Rev. Yvonne Jackson
Rev. Yvonne Marie Jackson was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, W.I. on April 16. She is the last of thirteen (13) children born to the late Andrew & Isadora Jackson. She accepted Jesus Christ at age 15 and was baptized at Red Hills Baptist Church in Jamaica, W.I. She served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary for the Sunday school, member of the junior & combined choir, member of the women’s federation, and member of the girl’s brigade (girls scout) for community outreach.
Yvonne migrated to the United States on January 7, 1982. That month was extremely challenging for her. It was the worse snow storm the Washington Metropolitan area (Maryland) had ever experienced in 40 years. The weather was extremely cold and it snowed heavily for hours. Snow covered everything and the roads were impassable for days. This was her first encounter with snow; as a result, she was ready to return home to Jamaica. However, she decided to remain here and enhance her educational goals.
She attended PG Community College, fall 1982, and graduated with two Associates in Art (AA) degrees one in Business management and the other in Marketing Management. She went on to graduate from the University of Maryland, University College, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Having a love for education, she also graduated from Howard University with a Masters of Divinity (MDIV) and a Masters of Social Work (MSW).
The Lord called Yvonne to another level in the ministry and in 1995 she preached her first sermon at First Baptist Church in North Brentwood, Maryland, under the leadership of Senior Pastor (now Pastor Emeritus) Rev. Dr. Perry A. Smith, III. While there she also served as a member of the senior choir.
She served as preacher, trustee, director for the missionettes (mentoring girls ages 4-17), director for the Saturday morning tutorial classes, and assistant director for the woman’s fellowship, at Church of Living Waters, located in Oxon Hill, Maryland, the Senior Pastor was the late Ted. Anthony Perkins.
In 2007, Yvonne was ordained as a Minister at Elohim Christian Center under the leadership of Robert E. King, Senior Pastor and Founder and served as assistant to the pastor, liturgist and preacher. Two years later, in 2009 she was ordained Reverend at Restoration Fellowship Center under the leadership of Bishop Devon Wayne Eastwood, Senior Pastor and Co-Pastor Wilbert Clark. She served on the pastoral board, director of the women’s ministry and preacher.
Currently, Rev. Yvonne is with Agape Deliverance Ministries, in Millersville, MD, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Gray. As part of the ministerial staff, Rev. Yvonne provides general ministry support and serves as director for the women’s fellowship. She also enjoys singing with the women’s choir and adult choir.
Professionally, Rev. Yvonne retired from Howard University and is currently employed as a contractor with the National Institutes of Health. Her motto is Where God leads her, She will follow. She is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, because it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes, (Rom 1:16). She is sold out 100% for God, who is the commander and Chief of her life. She is totally surrendered, totally committed, and totally obedient to the Spirit of God. To God be all the glory and the praise.
